Kurt provided a brief overview of where connected vehicles are today, where they are going tomorrow, and how that relates to 6G’s deployment plan and the connected services ecosystem.

Edge Computing and the Future of Connected Vehicle Services

The AECC recently held a panel at ITS World Congress in Los Angeles to discuss the future of connected vehicle services, its Proof of Concept (PoC) program, and how it is unlocking the connected vehicle services opportunity using the AECC’s distributed edge computing approach. The distinguished presenters included Ludovico Fassati, AECC member and SVP America at Nexar, Roger Berg, AECC Communications Vice Chair and Vice President of DENSO’s North American Research and Development Group, and Said Tabet, AECC Board Member and Distinguished Engineer at Dell Technologies.

AECC and SBD Automotive to Host Webinar “Coordinating the Connected Car and Network Edge to Avoid Breaking the Internet” on October 20

By 2025, all new vehicles will be connected, requiring fast internet, artificial intelligence (AI) and big data analytics to deliver services such as HD mapping, intelligent driving and more. The potential economic impact of this shift is enormous, as is the opportunity for MNOs. However, today’s network is not optimized to support the data needs of the connected vehicle services promise. The AECC is working to tackle this impending data challenge with PoCs designed to help meet growing data demands.
