IEEE Globecom 2020

IEEE GLOBECOM 2020 will be held as a hybrid conference allowing registrants the choice to participate virtually or in-person in Taipei. The entire program will be available on the virtual platform on 7-11 December 2020, while the presentations and exhibitions that can be made in-person will also take place at the Taipei International Convention Center (TICC) on 8-10 December 2020. This new format is an exciting adventure for ComSoc and its members as we strive to provide a forum where research content can be shared, and conference participants can be engaged and network.

Themed “Communications for Human and Machine Intelligence,” this flagship conference of the IEEE Communications Society will feature a comprehensive high-quality technical program including 13 symposia and a variety of tutorials and workshops. IEEE GLOBECOM 2020 will also include an attractive industry program aimed at practitioners, with keynotes and panels from prominent research, industry and government leaders, business and industry panels, and technological exhibits.

AECC Member and Chairman of AECC WG2, Leifend Ruan (Principal Engineer, Intel) will participate in a panel, Industry Tutorial 6 (IT-06, On demand): Edge Computing Technologies for V2X: from Standards to Actual Industry Adoption on December 10 at 09:00-17:30.

Organizer/Speaker(s) of Tutorial
Organizers:

Miltiadis Filippou, Senior Standards & Research Engineer, Intel, ETSI MEC Delegate
Dario Sabella, Senior Manager, Intel, ETSI MEC Vice-Chairman

Speakers:
Miltiadis Filippou, Senior Standards & Research Engineer, Intel, ETSI MEC Delegate
Dario Sabella, Senior Manager, Intel, ETSI MEC Vice-Chairman
Mustafa Emara, Researcher, Intel
Neal Oliver, Principal Engineer, Intel
Leifeng Ruan, Principal Engineer, Intel, Chairman of AECC WG2

Motivation and Scope of Tutorial
Given the growing importance of Edge Computing technologies for the 5G market, and its relevance for automotive domain applications, this Industry Tutorial will provide the latest technology insights on Edge Computing (from an industrial perspective), with special focus on Vehicular-to-Everything (V2X) applications. The aim is to first provide an edge computing technology overview, focusing on connected vehicles, from both standards (ETSI, 3GPP) and relevant Industry Association (5G Automotive Association (5GAA) & Automotive Edge Computing Consortium (AECC)) standpoints. Then, the tutorial will show how practical implementations of Edge Computing technology and collaboration with relevant stakeholders in demos and trials are enabling the market introduction for V2X applications and services. Finally, some performance evaluations, tailored to selected use cases of interest, and evolutionary aspects of Edge Computing technology towards distributed cloud will conclude the tutorial.
