GSMA Intelligence along with AECC members, Denso and Ericsson, to Provide Insights on the Current and Future State of Cross-Industry Edge Computing

Wakefield, Mass. – March 13, 2024 – The Automotive Edge Computing Consortium (AECC), has issued an open invitation to its upcoming Mobile World Live webinar, “Edge: Coming to a Place Near You.” The free event takes place on Tuesday, March 26 at noon Eastern and advanced registration is required.

Interest in edge computing is on the rise and expanding across industries. The AECC and GSMA Intelligence recent report evaluates edge investment sentiment, challenges, costs and opportunities for edge computing. Results suggest that due to several factors – IoT deployments, 5G expansion and more – edge computing is poised to come into its own and offer myriad opportunities for a wide range of companies.

“Edge investments are set to increase. The research reveals a robust expansion in the demand for edge computing, primarily fueled by enterprises undergoing digital transformation. An impressive 73% of surveyed companies across five industries express their intent to increase edge investments over the next 12 months,” said GSMA Intelligence Head of Research Tim Hatt.

Attendees will learn about key findings from the AECC and GSMA research report on the state of edge computing, including:

  • A look at the rising market demand for edge computing.
  • How AI, 5G, and other advancements are evolving edge computing.
  • Key challenges and opportunities associated with scaling edge computing solutions.
  • How Proof of Concept (PoC) development, Open APIs, and cross-industry collaboration are key to advancing edge infrastructure.
