Organizations Define Network Architecture for Automotive Industry

NEEDHAM and WAKEFIELD, MA – April 28, 2020 – The Industrial Internet Consortium® (IIC™) and the Automotive Edge Computing Consortium (AECC) announced the organizations have agreed to a liaison partnership to work together to advance their shared interests. Under the agreement, the IIC and the AECC will define architectural principles to prevent fragmentation, harmonizing various aspects of the industrial internet for the automotive industry.

Joint activities between the IIC and the AECC will include:

  • Identifying and sharing best practices
  • Realizing interoperability by harmonizing architecture and other elements, including APIs
  • Collaborating on proposals for standardization to other SDOs
  • Synergies from respective marketing activities
  • Information exchange and joint seminars

“Connected vehicles are at the heart of the digital transformation of the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) sector,” said Wael William Diab, Chair of the IIC Liaison Working Group and Secretary of the IIC Steering Committee. “We are looking forward to collaborating with AECC and share the goal of accelerating adoption in this area that brings the benefits of digitalization while simultaneously addressing technical, trustworthiness and societal concerns.”

The IIC Liaison Working Group is the gateway for formal relationships with standards and open-source organizations, consortia, alliances, certification and testing bodies and government entities/agencies.
