Trusted DataOps:
Making Mobility-Related Data Usable and Trustworthy
Background and
Motivation
Mobility-related data can support safer, more efficient, and more personalized mobility services. However, uncertainty around privacy, permissions, governance, cross-border handling, operational responsibility, and the interpretation of data-related rights can prevent valuable data from being collected, shared, reused, or retained appropriately.
In this context, mobility-related data includes data generated, collected, processed, or used to develop, improve, and operate connected vehicles, connected services, and future mobility solutions.
In addition to trustworthiness, data must remain usable over time. Data that cannot be discovered, understood, governed, shared, reused, or acted upon in practice often fails to deliver its intended value, regardless of how much effort was invested in collecting it.
AECC is exploring practical approaches that help keep mobility-related data both usable and trustworthy throughout its lifecycle while respecting applicable rights, permissions, security requirements, and regulatory frameworks. The goal is to help organizations, individual data providers, and service users understand how data may be handled and to ensure that relevant rights and permissions can be exercised effectively through practical operations and governance.
Trusted DataOps was established in February 2026 and welcomes participation from AECC members.

AECC’s Role
AECC convenes stakeholders from the automotive, network, cloud, data, and technology domains to translate data-governance challenges into concrete operational requirements, technical approaches, and prospective proofs of concept.
This SIG provides an open innovation environment where members can discuss practical challenges, share experiences, and collaboratively explore approaches for managing mobility-related data responsibly and effectively.
Key Initiative
The Trusted DataOps SIG welcomes input from AECC members and actively incorporates new perspectives into its activities.
A key observation shared by many participants is that the rights, responsibilities, permissions, and obligations associated with data are often interpreted differently across jurisdictions, organizations, and legal frameworks, and may evolve over time. This uncertainty can discourage beneficial data use even when technical solutions are available.
Current discussion points include:
- Who owns, controls, or has authority over data?
- How should rights, permissions, responsibilities, and obligations be managed throughout the data lifecycle?
- What operational capabilities are required to make data rights effective in practice?
- How should organizations respond when intentions, permissions, or regulations change over time?
- How can mobility-related data remain usable and trustworthy throughout its lifecycle?
- Sharing real-world challenges and practical experiences from members.
Where priority challenges and candidate approaches are sufficiently defined, the SIG may validate them through PoCs.
