By 2025, all new vehicles will be connected, requiring fast internet, artificial intelligence (AI) and big data analytics to deliver services such as HD mapping, intelligent driving and more. The potential economic impact of this shift is enormous, as is the opportunity for MNOs. However, today’s network is not optimized to support the data needs of the connected vehicle services promise. The AECC is working to tackle this impending data challenge with PoCs designed to help meet growing data demands.

Connected vehicle services are in everyone’s near future, but to bring them to life will require a much larger data transfer capacity from the vehicles to the edge and cloud than what is available today.

The Automotive Edge Computing Consortium (AECC), a non-profit association of cross-industry players working to enable secure, cost-effective connected vehicle services data delivery and processing on a global scale, today announced that the speaker line-up and public registration is open for its free, two-hour virtual AECC Summit focused on unlocking the connected vehicle services opportunity.

In the report, the AECC Technical Solutions Working Group (WG2) provides vehicle OEMs, MNOs and the service provider ecosystem with an overview of distributed computing requirements and architecture for deploying connected vehicle services solutions that meet new data communications use case requirements.
